The president was received by chairman of the Yad Vashem directorate Avner Shalev and saw the exhibition at the world?s largest Holocaust memorial centre.
 
The institute has collected not only names but also personal details and photographs of Holocaust victims to ensure that they are all remembered individually. Yad Vashem?s list includes four million names out of the estimated six million victims of the Holocaust. The institute works towards identifying as many of the victims as possible.
 
Áder laid a wreath in the institute's Hall of Remembrance and placed flowers at the tree of Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who saved thousands of Hungarian Jews from deportation in 1944. He also paid tribute at the Wall of Honour in the Garden of the Righteous among the Nations.
 
Later in the day, Áder will address a Wallenberg commemoration in the Israeli parliament.
