Travelling Fun Fair Offers Bit of Everything

English

László Gulyás has brought his Parade of Mice - a kind of miniature circus - to the fun fair, which complements the Sziget Festival's rich programme of musical acts. His is not the only miniature show: the Teatro Golondrino is performing a puppet opera called Jojo Jojo.

On the fun fair stage, the magician Péter Susán has placed his hands, together with those of a volunteer from the audience, over a glass. After much concentration, the glass explodes in a shower of shards.

Heinz Baut is another magic show of sorts, though there is no sleight of hand in Heinz's spectacle. Heinz builds towers of bamboo, but not with a crane or a ladder, rather perched on top of his creations, rising with them as they are formed.

The Kapu Csoport has brought a piece of dance chaos called Vertebrae: members of the troupe in rust-coloured cloaks dance around madly with staffs as their leader shouts "Oh no! I've fallen apart!"

Visitors to the Molen Rúzs, pronounced "Moulin Rouge", are quickly "made up" when the arrive to better fit in with the spirit of the place. Then they face the challenge of a number of nostalgic fair games. The best may even win a prize.
