The Raoul Wallenberg Academy has organised memorial celebrations in Sigtuna, near Stockholm, which will be attended by Countess Victoria and education minister Jan Björklund.
Budapest?s Holocaust Memorial Centre will welcome some of Wallenberg?s former colleagues and recipients of the Righteous Among the Nations title at an event on Friday. The event will be addressed by Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog. A newly established annual Award of the Society of Just People will be presented Hungarian rescuers at the commemoration.
A Wallenberg statue will be inaugurated in Berlin, and an avenue will be renamed after him in New York. Additional events will be held in Melbourne, Saint Petersburg, Tel Aviv and Wallenberg?s birthplace Stockholm- Lidingö.
A musical entitled Wallenberg, with music by Benjamin Rosenbluth, will be shown on Broadway and the world premiere of an opera about Wallenbeg, by an Estonian composer, will premiere at the theatre of Karlsruhe.
