This year?s event, which runs until Saturday, July 22, is expected to attract 30,000 visitors, said EFOTT PR director Móni Lisa Tibenszky.
Music is in the spotlight on the programme, with concerts taking place on four stages from four in the afternoon till four in the morning. Performers include Tankcsapda and Yonderboi. The programme will also feature this year, for the first time, performances by Hungarian musicians interpreting the music of big international acts.
Tourism offers at EFOTT include trips to the area?s wine regions and tours on horseback. The event will also feature screenings of award-winning films. Nearly 40 organisations and associations will set up at the event, providing information on many issues important to young people. The National Conference of Student Self Governments is running quizzes and organising debates. Another booth, set up with the support of the European Parliament, welcomes visitors who want to find out more about opportunities in the EU. Most of the questions asked at the booth are about studying abroad and applying for scholarships to cover the costs involved, Judit Fekete Gyárfás, who heads the department in charge of EU communications at the Prime Minster?s Office said at the opening.
Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány is scheduled to visit EFOTT on Thursday.
