The folk artists will demonstrate their skills in miniature workshops and some will even invite visitors to participate. In addition to arts and crafts, the fair will also feature performances by folk dancers and musicians. Hungarians on the programme include Márta Sebestyén, Ági Szalóki and Bea Palya, but a number of foreign acts will perform as well.
Each year the Festival of Folk Arts attracts 80,000-100,000 visitors. The festival offers an especially rich programme for children: at activity workshops, they can shape pottery, work with leather and even make rag dolls.
This year's festival will put leather working in the spotlight. In tandem with the festival, the Hungarian National Gallery will run an exhibition entitled "Turn In / Turn Out", showing examples of the tradition of leather working in Hungary.
