The exhibition entitled Botticelli to Titian - Two Centuries of Italian Masterpieces features paintings on loan from 50 museums, including the Uffizi in Florence, the Louvre in Paris, the national galleries of London and Washington, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Galleria Borghese in Rome and the Prado in Madrid.

In addition to works by Botticelli and Titian, the 130 paintings on show represent the art of over 80 masters, such as Leonoardo, Giorgione, Raphael, Veronese and Tintoretto.

One of the centre-pieces is Leonardo's emblematic Lady with an Ermine from around 1490, which is permanently exhibited in the Czartoryski Museum in Cracow and has so far been loaned to Italian museums only in Europe.

Other outstanding pieces on display are Titian's Man with a Glove, Botticelli's Story of Virginia, Perugino's Portrait of Francesco delle Opere and Palma Vecchio's La Bella from the period.

The exhibition will be open to the public also on Mondays from Christmas until it ends on February 14.
