The A38's Moscow Calling Festival will start with a performance by the ska band Russkaya, whose self-described sound is like a "vodka-filled Sputnik". They will be followed by Nogu Svelo, who gained fame with songs such as Love from Siberia and Haramamburu, performed in Gobbledygook. Their album entitled I'm Glad to be Pregnant was praised by some and shocked others.
The evening will conclude with a performance by the Ovchinnikov Brothers, who, in their youth, ran a pirate radio station and organised parties in castle ruins. Now the siblings play funk and house DJ sets at all of Moscow's hottest clubs.
The second day of the festival will feature Pakava It, which enjoys a reputation as one of Russia's most important bands.
Hungary will be represented at the festival by Irie Maffia, who play reggae-based dancehall music with rappers, accompanied by a horn and a rhythm section. The Ovchinnikov Brothers will perform again to wrap up the festival.
