Elly, unmarried, is invited to the seaside for a weekend with three other Iranian families, including a man just divorced and returned from Germany, with whom some in the party think Elly would be an appropriate match. When one of the family's children nearly drowns, Elly disappears. Perhaps in the act of saving the child? Or to escape the matchmakers?
Fahradi expertly shows the reactions of the seven weekenders to the disappearance of Elly, revealing each family and each family member. The pace of these revelations is in real time, that is, the viewer is caught up in the same rhythm as the actors.
While the party speculates about the whereabouts of Elly, Fahradi examines questions related to Iranian society and to the relationship of husbands and wives there. But he gives no clear answers, just shaded responses and guesses.
