MTAK, in a consortium with the Chemistry Centre, the Ecology and Botanical Research Institute, the Psychology Research Institute, the Land and Agro-chemistry Research Institute and the Global Economy Research Institute won a 70 million forint grant from the New Hungary Development Plan Society Renewal Operative Programme that supported digitalising and putting online a sizable part of the institutions? libraries.

?More than a hundred thousand books and documents can be accessed through a search engine, significantly raising the scale of digitalisation of the library,? said MTAK director Gábor Náray-Szabó.

A large part of the collections of the five institutions? libraries, some of which are not open to the public, will be made available online, he said.

Most of collections are in foreign languages. Search interfaces will be in at least two languages: Hungarian and English.

Project manager Melinda Tímea Kürti said the collections would appear online with the support of the HUNTÉKA system. All six will be searchable with the Metalib search engine on MTAK?s home page at www.mtak.hu, she added.
