Alsace Guest of Honour at Crafts Fair

English

Artisans from Alsace, among them glassmakers, organ makers, textile designers, bookbinders, hat makers, musical instrument makers, furniture designers, wood carvers and jewellers, will show their work as well as how they work to visitors at the fair. All of the artisans are members of the FRÉMA Alsatian regional folk art association.

The Alsatian artisans will be joined by craftsmen from regions with big Hungarian minorities as well from Central Asia.

In addition to crafts, the fair will again offer visitors theatre, dance and musical events. On the dance programme are performances by the French troupe Vogesia, the Serbian dance troupe Tabán, participants of the Heritage Children Dance Festival, and the Martenica troupe. On the musical programme are Éva Szalóki, Éva Korpás, Kálmán Balogh and Miklós Lukács, Napra, the Zurgó Ensemble, Szilvia Bognár and her band, Bea Palya and the András Dés Trio, Vodku, Parno Graszt and the Kerekes Band.

The Hungarian National Gallery will show a temporary exhibition on basket weaving between August 18 and 27, timed to coincide with the Celebration of Crafts.
