Schiff will perform Bach?s Goldberg Variations at a concert on December 27.
The new opera house is being inaugurated with a series of concerts on December 21-31. The opening concert will feature the Orchestra and Chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and its Principal Conductor, Zubin Mehta, performing Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, a piece commissioned by the celebrated Florentine composer Sylvano Bussotti and Beethoven?s Symphony No. 9.
The new theatre designed by Paolo Desideri has three halls with a capacity to seat 5,000 people.
