Professional press photographers may submit images taken any time during 2011 for this year?s contest.
Finalists? submissions will go on display at press union MÚOSZ?s headquarters on January 20-22, 2012. The winner will be announced a day later, and awards will be presented at the opening of the 30th Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition at the Hungarian National Museum on March 23.
The jury for this year?s contest includes Tony Hicks, Associated Press Europe and Africa photo editor; Marián Pauer, photo historian and department head of media studies at the University of Law in Bratislava; Radu Sigheti, Reuters Romania senior photographer; Péter Szalmás, an editor at Hungarian daily Népszava; and István Virágvölgyi of the Hungarian News Agency.
Last year?s contest, open to registered press photographers in Hungary and in regions with ethnic Hungarian populations, drew more than 8,500 submissions from some 300 photographers.
