The designer Stefan Lengyel, a department head at MOME, has established contacts with many of his former students and, with their help, built up the school's connections with several of the world's leading companies, among them Daimler Benz. With the help of MOME alumni, students currently studying at the school have the possibility to work in a corporate design environment, and even a chance to create joint projects, Lengyel said at an event on Tuesday. More students have also been offered jobs at these multinationals, he added.
MOME rector Gábor Kopek, said a professional dialogue had been started with many well known industrial companies and the university will cooperate with the Mercedes plant to be built in the Hungarian city of Kecskemét. Judging from the results of international contests, MOME students have achieved a good position in spite of the tough competition, he added.
Design is more than just making pretty cars, it has a cultural presence that shows a country's economic and cultural position, Kopek said.
