Founded by the Austrian government in 1985 and named about an Austrian-French author, the prize recognises outstanding literary achievements and works highly appreciated in German-speaking countries.
Minister of Culture Claudia Schmied will present the prize to Peter Esterhazy in Vienna next Tuesday.
