The prize has been awarded each year since 1984 to one Hungarian composer and one Hungarian performer or musical ensemble for their contributions to the development of musical life in Hungary.
After the award of the prizes, the music academy?s best talents will perform a concert of Bartók?s works to celebrate the 125th anniversary of his birth. The concert programme will include Bartók?s Rhapsody No I for cello and piano, his Rhapsody No II for violin and piano, and his Contrasts for violin, clarinet, and piano. Performing are Ádám Banda (violin), Árpád Kákonyi (piano), Balázs Rumy (clarinet) and István Várdai (cello). The ceremony will begin at 12:00 and the concert starts at 12:30 in the music academy?s Small Hall.
