Berlin Philharmonic's Twelve Cellists Visit Budapest for First Time

English

The ensemble, which has been playing well-known classics and film scores since 1972, has appeared in Berlin, Tokyo, New York and Rome, but will visit Budapest for the first time. The concert programme will feature pieces from the ensemble?s new album, entitled ?As Time Goes By?, which includes themes from the film classics ?Casablanca?, ?La Strada? and ?Tea for Two?. The album was picked by German music critics for the ECHO award in 2005.

The concert is part of a series called Kulturfrühling, or ?spring of culture?, put on by the German embassy and the Academy Club Association.

The concert programme will include Klengel?s ?Hymnus?, Villa-Lobos?s ?Bachiana Brasiliera Nr.I?, Embolada Youmans? ?Tea for Two? from the film of the same name, Herman Hupfeld?s ?As Time Goes By?, from the film Casablanca, Nino Rota?s music for the film ?La Strada?, and Ennio Morricone?s music for the film ?Once Upon a Time in the West?.

Tickets are on sale at the Music Academy ticket office at 8 Liszt Ferenc Square, District VI, and the Magyar Telekom Orchestra booking office at 19 Nagymező utca, District VI.
