The screening in a 700-seat theatre in central Berlin was sold out, said managing director of the Hungarian Film Union Éva Vezér.
The screening was followed by a question-and-answer session with Hajdu, his wife Orsolya Török-Illyés who plays the female lead in the film, and cinematographer András Nagy. The couple's young daughter, who was a member of the cast too, also made an appearance on the stage.
Bibliothéque Pascal's distributor is in talks on international rights.
The film took the top prize at the 41st Hungarian Film Week.
