Super Night Shot is part of Supernow!-Great Britmania, a month-long celebration of cutting-edge UK culture. The performance will involve a video feed from the streets of Budapest started just one hour before the audience arrives at the Trafó.
The Gob Squad names their cause "the war on anonymity" and their weapon of choice video cameras. Often comical and moving, Super Night Shot attempts to elevate the banality of everyday life into the glamour and glitz of the big screen blockbuster.
Gob squad is a 6-member British-German collective working in Nottingham, Hamburg and Berlin, creating unique performances, installations and media art. They have been working collectively for 12 years, without a director, on the concept, design, devising and performing of their work. Permanent members of the group are Sean Patten, Berit Stumpf, Sarah Thom, Simon Will, Bastian Trost and Johanna Freiburg. Other artists are invited to collaborate on particular projects. For Super Night Shot, the Gob Squad is joined by performance/video artist Elyce Semenec, actress Laura Tonke and the performance artists Ilia Papatheodorou and Erik Pold, as well as sound designers Sebastian Bark and Jeff McGrory.
