The exhibition shows 55 paintings by mostly French artists of Impressionism and Symbolism in the late 19th century, as well as works of the first avant-garde movements.
Visitors can see works by Monet, Sisley, Renoir, Cezanne, Degas, Van Gogh, Pissarro, Gauguin and Matisse, as well as by Pablo Picasso.
The paintings are on loan from the outstanding art collection of Russian 19th century industrialists Sergei Shchukin and Ivan Morozov in Moscow's Pushkin Museum.
Talks are under way with the Pushkin Museum to extend the loan of the works to the Budapest exhibition, which originally would close this weekend.
