The orchestra is returning to the French capital with standing ovations. French television broadcaster TF1 called the orchestra?s interpretations of its broad repertoire ?frenetic and deep?.
In addition to classics by Verdi, Liszt, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Bizet, the orchestra is also performing Gypsy jazz pieces first popularised in France by the famous guitarist Django Reihnardt.
Many in the audience at the orchestra?s first performances in Paris danced in the rows to their renditions of Yiddish classics. Their interpretation of the Piaf song La vie en rose also generated much enthusiasm.
The orchestra?s foreign tours are managed by a French agent, thus French tours are a regular part of their concert schedule.
The producer Xavier Duboc said it was no easy task to bring an orchestra whose members do not read from music when performing into France?s classical music circle, but today audiences everywhere wait for the Budapest Gypsy Symphony?s return.
After making an impression in Europe and Japan, the orchestra is now aiming to woo American audiences.
