The conference looks into events in Prague forty years ago and the political background in the Soviet block.
Head of Hungary's national news agency MTI Matyas Vince opened the exhibition of MTI photos on Prague 1968.
Titled Crushed Spring - Prague 1968, the exhibition pays a tribute to the memory of a crushed uprising against Soviet rule, which has become ingrained in the minds of all Eastern Europeans, Vince said.
The photos present the uprising from a wide range of angles - from a Czech man arguing with a Soviet soldier on one photo, to a Moscow meeting of former Communist party leaders Janos Kadar of Hungary and Leonid Brezhnev of the Soviet Union on another.
The exhibition will be open to the public until October.
