Busts of Liszt, Chopin to be Erected in Warsaw, Budapest

The bust of Chopin, the first in Budapest, is the gift of Alex Szilasi, a pianist, born in Italy but with Hungarian roots, who specialises in the music of Chopin. Szilasi was presented the statue by Polish National Opera director Waldemar Dabrowski, who was in charge of last year?s Chopin bicentennial celebrations.

The bust is by the sculptor Boleslaw Syrewicz.

In exchange for the gift, Warsaw will get a bust of Liszt by the Hungarian artist Katalin Gerő. The bust will be inaugurated on Augsut 13.

Both busts will be presented at the Castle District local council office on Monday.
