Some HUF 800,000 in proceeds from the ball, which was attended by 200 guests, will be used to refurbish the structure, which housed a wine press. Guests picked the building from five candidates in a vote.
But the building was not the only one to benefit from the ball. A HUF 1 million donation was made by a private party to renovate a gate in Szentendre, north of Budapest, and KÖH offered to allocate a part of its budget to the refurbishment of an observatory tower in Sopron, in Western Hungary.
The charity ball was the sixth one organised by KÖH, albeit after a seven-year break. The balls used to be held each year.
The patron of this year's ball was House Speaker Katalin Szili.
