Work on the film, which follows events in Budapest as well as the Hungarian water polo team?s legendary defeat of the Soviet team in the finals of the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, is proceeding as scheduled. Editing will finish by the end of July, post dubbing will take place in August and final picture and audio editing will take place in London in September. The film will premiere on October 23, on the 50th anniversary of the start of the revolution.
Shooting for the film started in early May of this year and took a little more than two months to complete. Filming took place at 23 locations and involved around 700 extras.
The film, directed by Krisztina Goda, stars Iván Fenyő as a player on Hungary?s national water polo team. Kata Dobó plays his student girlfriend and the pair?s best friend is acted by Csányi Sándor.
Vajna, who moved to the United States at age 12, on the same day as the infamous match between Hungary and the USSR, said earlier that ?Children of Glory? uses an emotional approach, rather than a political one, to show the impact of the revolution on young people. "I would like this film and its message to reach young people so that they can feel proud of their country's history," Vajna said.
