The Beijing Acrobatic Troupe's act Rola-Bola beat more than 30 other acts from eleven countries for the top prize. Budapest Circus spokesman Zoltán Pósfai said the troupe's performance defied the laws of physics.

The jury for the competition, comprising circus professionals from all over the world, presented silver medals to three acts: the White Crow, a stunning balance beam performance; Narkevich, the springboard troupe of the State Circus of Minsk; and the hand balancer Dima Shine from Ukraine.

Bronze medals went to the comedy duo from Hungary Mr. and Mrs. Dittmar; the U.S. comedian Rob Torres; the Italian hand balancer Glen Nicolodi; and China's Flying Spiders aerial troupe.

The Europe Award went to the juggler Shaman of Moscow's Nikulin Circus. The prize for best Hungarian act went to the strongman balancing team of Duo Deltai, comprising István Deltai and Gábor Deltai. The special award for best international acrobat went to The Net, a trampoline act by the Russian State Circus's troupe.

The Budapest Circus's new programme Festival Plus, which kicks off February 2, will feature several of the winning acts at the festival.
