The French-born American actor, well-known for his roles in the ?Highlander? films, was originally expected to attend only the Tuesday premiere in Budapest, but accepted the invitation of Szeged, in southeast Hungary, to attend the premiere there a day earlier.
?Day of Wrath? takes place in 1532, in a Spanish city where the citizens? quiet, peaceful lives are interrupted by a series of murders carried out by an unknown killer who carves letters into the chests of the victims. The city?s sheriff, Ruy Mendoza, played by Christopher Lambert, is the only witness to the crimes, but the bodies keep disappearing, placing him under suspicion and putting his wife, played by Hungarian actress Szonja Oroszlán, and child in danger.
The film was shot in 42 days in Hungary and post-production was carried out in London. Never before has such a large Hungarian crew been involved in such a big-budget production.
