The concert, to take place at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 9, will offer rare performances on a Theremin, a Mellotron, an Ondes Martenot, a Hammond organ and an early Moog Synthesizer, instruments which were used not only by popular musicians such as Paul McCartney and Keith Emerson, but by modern composers including Olivier Messiaen, Edgard Varése and Paul Hindemith. Although their names may not be familiar, many people would recognise their sounds from film soundtracks such as that of Alfred Hitchcock?s Psycho.
Performing on the Theremin will be Germany?s Carolina Eyck, on the Ondes Martenot will be Christine Ott of France, Markus Resch from Sweden will perform on the Mellotron, Hungary?s Béla Szakcsi Lakatos and Trio will play keyboards, János Fogarasi and Trio will play Hammond organ and Zsolt Kaltenecker and Trio will play synthesisers. The concert will be hosted by Róbert Mandel, Hungary?s greatest hurdy-gurdy player and a man with an expansive understanding of musical instruments.
