Contemporary Art Conference Draws a Hundred Professionals

English

One of the key questions being addressed at the conference is how the work of young artists can find a place in art collections.

Among the conference participants was Ágnes Konkoly, who heads the Studio of Young Artists? Association (SYAA), a non-profit platform for establishing and fostering connections with foreign partner institutions and exhibition-spaces.

Balázs Kicsiny, a contemporary Hungarian artist with a high profile abroad, acknowledged the work of SYAA but said that the workshops and conferences in the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts? graduate school could also help bridge the space between the local and global art worlds.

The conference, entitled Contemporary Art Market. Passion? Speculation?, was organised with the cooperation of the Károlyi József Foundation, the French Institute in Budapest, the IESA in Paris, Budapest?s International Business School, the Association of Contemporary Art Galleries, Art Market, the Robert Schumann Foundation and the Turkish embassy.
