Zoltán Vancsó: Milan (1992)

The images present the bicycle as a device of meditation or a mechanical sedative, at least so say the exhibition's organisers.

The invitation for images for the exhibition drew the interest of professionals and amateurs alike. The selected ones do not show a way to race around the city, rather they depict peaceful rides in the afternoon light of the summer sun. They show that - for Hungarians, at least - the bicycle offers a kind of secret passage, through which one can escape the everyday, retreating from the traffic and even the city itself.

The exhibition of 30 photographs will be on display at Kodály körönd, on Andrássy út, between Oktogon and Heroes' Square, until May 11.

Photographers whose work is being shown in the exhibition include Szabolcs Barakonyi, Imre, Béla Dóka Benkő, Anna Fabricius, Miklós Gulyás, Gábor Hajdu, Gábor Kapolka, Iván János Kárpáti, Gáspár Kéri, Krisztián Kiszely, Gábor Arion Kudász, István Martincsák, Zoltán Molnár, Mária, Ábel Szalontai, Lenke Szilágyi Pecsics, János Szirtes, Márton Tóth, László Újvári, Ádám Urbán, Zoltán Vancsó and Tamás Vass.
