Cultural institutes around the world mark Day of Hungarian Culture

Violinist Antal Szalai and pianist Jozsef Balog will play works by Dohnanyi, Bartok and Prokofiev in Brussels and storyteller Andras Berecz will present a programme in Bratislava. 

   
Works by Ferenc Liszt and Rezso Kokai will be performed by Ada Bracchi and Giuseppe Magliocca at the Hungarian Academy in Rome.
  
The Hungarian Cultural Institute of Prague will present a concert by the Budapest Saxophone Quartet and open a photo exhibition by Matyas Misetics.
   
The Hungarian Institute in Stuttgart, which celebrates its 20 anniversary this year, will open an exhibition entitled "20 Years of Post-Communist Transformation" and host a concert by the David Lamm Trio.

The Hungarian Cultural Institute in Bucharest will present three photo exhibitions and the Hungarian Institute in Paris will show aquarelles and video works by Eszter Szabo and photgraphs by Ildiko Peter, a recipient of the Andre Kertesz scholarship.

   
In Helsinki graphic artist Marcell Kismarton will show works inspired by his journeys around Europe. A photo exhibition by Dora Hegedus will be on show in Tallinn and the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Sofia will show a collection of Hungarian nature photographs.
   
An exhibition entitled "Colours of Egypt" by painter Atua Sayed will be shown in Cairo, to be followed by the screening of a classic Hungarian film. Renowned film director Miklos Jancso's "Hungarian Rhapsody" will be screened in Warsaw, as the first film in a series dedicated to Jancso.
   
The Hungarian Cultural Institute in Moscow will offer a lecture by translator Yuri Gusev about new translations of famous Hungarian poems, to be followed by a discussion with Daria Anisomova about "The Tragedy of Man" by Imre Madach.
   
The Hungarian Cultural Centre in London will show a film entitled "The Traveler", based on Antal Szerb's classic novel, to be followed by a discussion with the novel's English translator Len Rix and book critic of The Guardian Nicholas Lezard.
   
The cultural institute in New Delhi will host an evening dedicated to writer Kalman Mikszath. Margit Koves from the local university will give a lecture about the writer and translator Indu Mazaldan will read excerpts from his works.
   
Writer Peter Esterhazy and saxophonist Laszlo Des will tour with a joint event four cities in Transylvania: Targu Mures, Miercurea Ciuc, Targu Secuiesc and Sfantu Gheorghe.
