Dalai Lama to be Made Honorary Citizen of Budapest

The Budapest Municipal Council decided to make the Dalai Lama an honorary citizen at a meeting on Thursday.

 
The Dalai Lama will lecture on Buddhism, lead a training session on the art of happiness and visit Parliament during a trip to Hungary on September 17-20.
 
Others to be made honorary citizens of Budapest this year are the footballer Flórián Albert, the composer and performer Ferenc Demjén, the pastor László Donáth, the theatre finance director Egon Lázár, the opera singer Erika Miklósa, the writer Péter Nádas, the opera singer László Polgár, the guitarist Ferenc Snétberger, the composer Levente Szörényi, the pentathlonist and coach Ferenc Török, the writer, translator and critic Tamás Ungvári and the theatre director Gábor Zsámbéki.
 
Pro Urbe Budapest awards will go to the Sapienta Clerical College, the Tűzraktér Independent Cultural Centre and Creative House, the university docent Győző Ferenc, the geologist Árpád Juhász, the actor András Kern and the university professor István Klinghammer.
