The production entitled ?Human Anthem? will be first performed on May 8 by dancers of the Festival Ballet and the National Ballet, so it will also pay tribute to Europa Day, which is celebrated on May 9, Imre Kiss said.
The score will be played by Danubia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Domonkos Héja and the orchestra will be accompanied by the National Philharmonic choir conducted by Mátyás Antal, he added.
?Human Anthem? has been devised by Kossuth Award winning choreographer and dancer Iván Markó, who has prepared the choreography in co-operation with Gábor Keveházi, who was head of Pécs Ballet in 2001-2005 and has been ballet director of the Opera House since 2005.
Markó was a member of France's Bejart Ballet in 1972-1979 and established the since famous Győr Ballet after returning to Hungary. He has been head of the Hungarian Festival Ballet since 1996.
?Human Anthem? is a staging of human strife, joy and triumph as expressed in music and movement, with the participation of fifty adult dancers, who are joined by twenty children in the performance.
The production?s title is a reference to Schiller?s Ode to Joy, sung in the final movement of the Ninth Symphony, which is the anthem of the European Union, the shared credo of these twenty-five European countries.
?Human Anthem? will be performed in the Palace of Arts six times: on May 8, 9 and 10, and on June 14, 15 and 16.
