Dancer Zoltán Nagy Jr, 42, Dies After Illness

The ballet dancer Zoltán Nagy Jr died on Sunday of a serious illness. He was 42. Nagy danced with the Hungarian State Opera and served as rector of the Hungarian Dance Academy. Nagy graduated from the Hungarian College of Dance Arts in 1986. He joined the Hungarian State Opera and danced many leading roles in big productions as well as in one-act ballets by Béjart, Kylián, Manen, Mendez, Balanchine, Naisy, Zanella, Pártay, Millos, László, Fodor, Harangozó and Seregi. He performed around Europe and also toured North America, Mexico and Asia.

 
Nagy was appointed rector off the Hungarian Dance Academy on August 1, 2006.
 
Nagy was awarded the Kossuth Prize, Hungary's highest award for artists, in 2000.
 
The Hungarian State Opera, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Hungarian Dance Academy express their deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Zoltán Nagy Jr.
