Danish Culture in Spotlight in January

Danish Cultural Institute director Hanne Tornoe will open the exhibition Monumental Motion, which documents the use of the bicycle in Denmark, on Thursday. The exhibition is being paired with Cycle Chic Budapest?s show of fashions for the winter cyclist.
 
Screenings of Lars von Trier?s and Jorgen Leth?s Oscar-nominated picture The Five Obstructions and Susanne Bier?s Oscar-winning In a Better World will be screened at the Lumiere Filmklub. The film critic Zsolt Gyenge will speak with Moholy-Nagy University of Art film teacher Dorka Gyárfás on January 20.
 
The Ecological Sequestration Trust and EUNIC have organised a conference on the role of cultural institutions in raising the profile of ecological-social practices on January 24.  Peter Head, the founder and chief of the Ecological Sequestration Trust, will speak at the opening of the meeting, dubbed CultureFuture Conference.
 
On January 27, MEP Zoltán Bagó will hold hours at the Európa Pont and an exhibition of drawings in the European Parliament?s regional school competition for the Southern Great Plains Region will go on display.
 
The Danish ensemble Tales of Joy and Woe will perform in the evening of the 27th.
 
A children?s day on January 28 will feature a Lego corner and a presentation of instruments made from recycled materials.
