Day of Silence to Show Cemeteries' Other Side

English

Budapest?s cemeteries are not only for the grieving, and they are more than solemn memorials. They offer to visitors a serenity unmatched by any park, as well as a unique beauty and history which is not to be missed.

Visitors to Kerpesi Cemetery, Budapest?s grandest, just a short walk from Keleti Station, will find on Sunday a display of photographs, an exhibition on the history of religion and a tea house. There will also be concerts during the day, the last of which will be one by László Fassang, the renowned organist. For lack of an organ, Fassang will play the piano in a programme entitled ?Variations on Silence?.

The events at the cemetery are all free of charge.
