Presenting his plans at the Balassi Institute on Tuesday, Molnár, a historian and researcher, said he aimed to foster partnerships with the French Institute in Rome, a neighbour to the Academy, as well as with other foreign cultural institutions operating in the city.

The Academy will act as an intermediary, opening new doors for Hungarian academics and researchers to publish works on archaeology, art history, history and the history of religion, he said.

Molnár also wants to introduce more Italians to Hungarian cuisine by opening a catering unit in the Academy.

Molnár spoke about new ways to present Hungarian literature, art and music at the Academy. He also outlined his aim to give young Hungarian musicians the chance to establish relationships with their Italian peers.

Molnár is no stranger to Rome, where he studied on scholarship and was often a visitor at the Hungarian Academy to do historical research.
