Péter Halász, a.k.a. Dj Optique, has been a popular figure on the Budapest DJ scene for more than a decade. He has spun techno and trance, drum and bass, and nujazz, playing gigs at all of the capital's most popular venues, including Süss fel nap, Trafó, Kultiplex, Café Szimpla, West Balkán and A38. But, since 2003, Dj Optique has focused on world music from the likes of Cheb Khaled, Rachid Taha, Ska Cubano, Ba Cissoko, Shantel, Tinariwen, Ghymes, Zurgó, Kalyi Jag, Etnorom, Kocani Orkestar, Transglobal Underground, Fun-Da-Mental, Manu Chao and Oojami.
Dj Optique plays a 120-minute block on Fúzió Radio every other Friday from 7pm. The programme also involves special guests, such as Károly Fehér, manager of the music shop Afrosound, which specialises in exotic instruments.
Dj Optique's Globe Trekker gigs at Holdudvar will run from 10pm until 4am every Wednesday.
