Dutch Culture Festival Shows Contemporary Arts

The programme will focus on the contemporary arts and encourage cooperation between Hungarian and Dutch artists and cultural institutions.

 
The Ludwig Museum will present a retrospective of the Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn, whose portraits of famous personalities have become pop icons. Corbijn's film Control, about the band Joy Division, will be shown on the A38 Ship.

Premiere

The Merlin Theatre will host an English-language performance that mixes humour and drama entitled Cuniculus by the Dutch troupe Stuffed Puppet Theatre. The National Theatre will show a performance of Premiere by the Toneelgroep from Amsterdam. The piece, directed by, Ivo van Hove, is a stage adaptation of John Cassavetes's film Opening Night.

 
The SPACE company, which brought the much acclaimed Dutch Tsunami to last year's Dutch Culture Festival, will bring Worldwideheroshow to the Trafó this year.
 
The duo of Keren Levi-Ugo Dehaes will give audiences a taste of contemporary Dutch dance at the MU Theatre.

Lefties Soul Connection

New Cool Collective, a 19-member band that mixes jazz with Latin and Salsa, will play at the Millenáris. Amsterdam Beat, the Lefties Soul Connection and The Qualitons will share the stage at the Fáklya Club for an evening called Budapest Soul. The A38 will host concerts by zZz, Zuco 103 and Hungarian nu rave pioneers Kollektíva. The young indie rock group Voics will join up with the up-and-coming Hungarian band Gonzo at the Merlin.

 
The Kino will host a Dutch film weekend, and the renowned artist Dries Verhoeven will present a provocative performance entitled The Big Movement at Moszkva Square.
