After returning to Hungary from the United States in the mid-80s, Spéter started appearing in Tamás Vitray's talk show Telefere. Her flair for spectacular outfits and her liberal leanings quickly made her the subject of public interest.

It was on Telefere that Spéter announced she would donate USD 20,000 for the construction of Hungary's new National Theatre. Shortly afterward, she established the USD 200,000 Erzébet Award to honour outstanding individual artistic achievement in Hungary. Sadly, the award was discontinued in 1995.
