On the programme will be works by Händel, Beethoven, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Schubert, Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Christoph Bach, in addition to Haydn.
The festival will open with Haydn's oratorio Il ritorno di Tobia, performed by the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Philharmonic and the Vienna Chamber Choir under the baton of Ádám Fischer. The orchestra will also perform two concerts of works by Haydn and Schubert with the French violinist Fanny Clamagirand on the festival's last day.
The Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Vesselina Kasarova will sing arias from the operas Alcina and Ariodante during the festival, and the Spanish soprano Nuria Rial will sing arias written for the great Italian singer Logia Polzelli, who performed at the Eszterházy court in the 18th century. The soprano Giorgia Milanesi will sing songs by Haydn, Mozart, Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti, and Patricia Petibon will perform songs by Poulenc, Satie, Barber and Copland.
The Kammerorchester Basel will play two concerts of works by Haydn and Beethoven, with the soloist Viktoria Mullova on violin. It will also perform works by Rossini, Haydn and Grieg with the cellist Pieter Wispelwey. L´Orfeo Barockorchester will perform Haydn symphonies. The conductor Jos van Immerseel from Belgium will return to the festival with the Anima Eterna orchestra.
The pianist Paul Badura-Skoda will play a solo concert.
