Péter Esterházy |
Esterházy himself will launch he book, translated by Terézia Mora, at the Leipzig Book Fair.
No Art was published in Hungary by Magvető Kiadó a year ago. In the book, Esterházy returns to the mother figure for the first time since the publication of his excellent Helping Verbs of the Heart in 1985. (His previous two books, Celestial Harmonies and Revised Edition, focused on father figures.)
The title of the book comes from an exchange between the mother and son in the story. The mother warns her son that writing about football is bad because it is so full of art: "You, my son, stay out of it, no art."
