The Esterházy greenhouse

The 700-square-metre greenhouse was built in Tata's English Garden. Its roof is between five and six metres high and its central dome reaches as high as twelve metres. Under communism, the greenhouse was converted into a youth hostile with small partitioned rooms. Later it fell into a state of disrepair.

Kristály, a public benefit company, used HUF 336 million in EU and state funding to carry out the renovation and conversion, State Secretary István Kolber said at the inauguration of the renovated greenhouse.
Kristály used the state funding to renovate 528 square metres of the greenhouse and its own resources to finance the renovation of a further 200 square metres. The greenhouse's main hall now has a capacity for 200 people and its wings have a capacity for 150. It will be suitable for hoting conferences, receptions, theatre performances and musical events.
