In addition to a line-up of international hits, the festival will show films which have received kudos at film festivals around the world, but will not be released in Hungary.
Films from France, Spain, Turkey, Poland, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Italy, Estonia and former the former Yugoslavia have been included on the festival programme. Dramatic films from the countries of the former Yugoslavia as well as from Ireland show the problems of crises in the past and the present. Director Ken Loach?s ?The Wind That Shakes the Barley?, a winner of the Golden Palm at Cannes, shows Ireland?s fight for independence.
Several of the festival?s films deal with the struggle against alienation and loneliness. They include Lucas Belvaux?s action movie ?The Right of the Weakest? and Nuri Bilge Ceylan?s new elegiac drama ?Climates.? Christofe Honoré?s film ?Inside Paris? shows a playful experiment while Denis Dercourt?s film ?The Page Turner? is a psychological thriller played out with the music of Bach and Schubert.
Other films on the festival programme ? ?Shades of Happiness,? ?The World is Waiting for You,? ?Totally Married,? and ?Poison Friend? ? show 30-somethings growing up and becoming their own generation.
