The Komplex Divatstúdió, or ?Complex Fashion Studio? in English, was part of the Applied Arts Company, set up under the Kádár regime. Its members included skilled designers such as Katalin Hajdú, Gabriella Kruppa, Anna Soltész Nagy, Margit Szilvitzky and Lujza Záhonyi.
Although the fashion designs displayed in the exhibition perhaps show a slightly idealized picture of the era, they do create a feeling of nostalgia for some, while at the same time attracting a significant amount of interest from the younger generation.
In addition to presenting fashion plates produced by the studio, the exhibition aims to recreate some of the era?s atmosphere, showing outfits popular at the time and sharing the designers? memories of the period. The exhibition features a corner where children can dress cut-out dolls in clothes of the period, and where adults can page through old fashion magazines.
The Museum of Applied Arts is located at Üllői út 33-37, in Budapest?s District IX. The museum is open every day of the week but Monday from 10am to 6pm. The exhibition runs until May 28.
