One of the most interesting parts of the exhibition shows the effects of WWII on Switzerland, a neutral country. The Hungarian title of the show, Poor Switzerland (in English and German, it is called The Other Switzerland), is fitting as the photographs show scenes which are distanced from the stereotypes of a country with one of the highest standards of living in Europe.
A memorable image from the show is one of an army band playing to a group of interned people on the other side of a barbed wire fence.
"Despite failing to achieve the ultimate breakthrough as 'master photographer'...his early work possesses qualities which have earned him a definitive position in the history of Swiss photography," says the aesthete Peter Pfrunder of the exhibition.
The exhibition runs until January 24, 2010.
