The play, directed by Gregory Mosher, has not been seen on Broadway in nearly 90 years, since it marked the first collaboration of famed husband-and-wife team Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt in 1924, the arts centre said.

Molnár emigrated to New York in 1939. There many of his plays were performed on Broadway. A film based on his novel The Pál Street Boys was shot in the United States by director Frank Borzage in 1934.

Molnár died in New York in 1952.
