Festetics Gardens Project Wins Grant

English

The first phase of the reconstruction plan for the Festetics Castle gardens - the largest such gardens in Hungary - will focus on the garden's lake. Some 30,000 cubic metres of mud will be dredged, the shoreline reinforced and a flood channel built.

Some HUF 12 million will be available for preparations for the next phase of the project.

Műemlékvédelem, a Hungarian journal about the preservation of historical buildings, published a detailed article on the Festetics Castle project earlier in the year.

The park and the exhibition From the Tea Salon to the English Garden in the castle remain open to visitors.
