Festival Mixing Jazz and Classical Planned in Miskolc, May 25 - 27

English

The festival ? as well demonstrated by its name ? aims to cross the boundaries of the two genres to produce a new world of sound. A different jazz group will arrive on each of the festival?s three days to play together with the North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra works originally composed for larger ensembles.

Again this year, the festival?s organisers have invited several cutting-edge jazz personalities, including Nikoletta Szőke, who won the jazz voice competition at last year?s Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Free Style Chamber Orchestra, which, led by pianist János Nagy, is one of Hungary?s most extraordinary jazz groups. Bassist Kilian Forster from Dresden, who led the sensational Klazz Brothers at last year?s festival, will play again at this year?s festival together with legendary jazz pianist David Gazarov and drummer Oscar Peterson. Gazarov, the winner of a number of international jazz piano competitions, will also make a solo appearance during the evening.

The North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra will play under the baton of artistic director László Kovács.
