Fine Art Meets Theatre at Műcsarnok

English

The exhibition is called Das Anatomische Theater: Simultaneous Games in the Twentieth Century (DAT) and Krstic has been working on it for more than a decade. Műcsarnok calls the show ?a kind of a postmodern Gesamtkunstwerk?.

?It is a subjective visual encyclopaedia of the 20th century, a theatre of history and historical experience. One of its professed objectives is to reintroduce the Dadaist perspectives of simultaneity and holism to the stage of history. These perspectives are applied to both the genuine facts of history and the interpretation of the century?s scientific and artistic achievements.?

On several occasions while the show is at the Műcsarnok, the Forte Company, led by Csaba Horváth, will perform Krstic?s play Ruben Brandt, about art thieves and how the media devours art.

Műcsarnok director Gábor Gulyás said the tie-in was the brainchild of the Forte Company?s director and choreographer.

?This is not about mixing about art forms, although that would be exciting. Rather it is about expanding limits. When a picture is brought to life, its still fine art, as if it were hanging motionless from the wall. Pushing against limits is one of the most exciting artistic experiences,? Gulyás said.

?Only a few thousand people will get this chance now because of the limited number of seats, but I plan similar unusual projects in the Műcsarnok later,? he added.
