LA Opera Chief Operating Officer Christopher Koelsch and Director of Production Rupert Hemmings came to the British capital to ?go shopping? for the production in Europe as well as meet with the production?s creators, props director Hajnal Tordai and set designer György Csíki and director Csaba Káel, said co-producer Zsolt Magony.
?This will be a broad presentation which shows the costumes and the set, and we?ll also report on the main elements of Tamás Solymosi?s choreography,? said Magony. ?We?re very happy that Solymosi will take the stage as a soloist in the production in Los Angeles,? he added.
Magony revealed that Tordai had created costumes that showed the 12th century but were still fresh and contained a modern spirit. Csíki has created an extraordinary set that can be illuminated from the outside, he added.
Offers have been made for a CD to be made of the production, but agreeing on a time to make the recording with LA Opera General Director Placido Domingo before the premiere of the production has proved extraordinarily difficult, he said.
The production is to be performed in LA on November 16, 19, 22 and 27. Ottokár Klein will sing the role of Bánk Bán. Melinda will be sung by Andrea Rost and Klára Kolonits. Gergely Vajda will direct the orchestra.
